I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Hawaii, a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, with a specialization in mind-body approaches. Prior to private practice I have spent the last 10 years working in residential programs helping others to cope with anxiety, trauma, addiction, family conflict, and depression.
I support my clients in finding contentment with oneself and in life. I believe that our biggest struggles create the greatest opportunities for growth and healing. I believe that we have all of the answers to a greater more fulfilling life held within us, yet sometimes we need a practiced guide to help us along our path providing reflection, tools and guidance.
I have a warm and engaging style, and am passionate about helping people find innate truth, although sometimes we find acceptance and meaning in the process of wanting answers.
Education and Training
I attended University of Hawaii at Hilo for my undergraduate degree conferred in 2010, and went on to gain a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Prescott College in Arizona where I specified my area of study on understanding the body-mind connection in therapy. Since then I have gained my Somatic Experiencing Practitioner certification and have been trained in sandplay as other ways to access greater healing. I’m trained in cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness.
